Clinical Aromatherapy Massage
At Balmoral Physiotherapy, we recognise the importance of a holistic approach to body and mind.
Clinical aromatherapy involves therapeutic massage using a unique blend of essential oils which is tailored specifically for you. The initial consultation will include a detailed questionnaire, which helps the aromatherapist decide which oils are used.
What is Clinical Aromatherapy?
Clinical aromatherapy is distinct from ordinary aromatherapy practice. It has a substantial empirical research basis and an associated international professional organisation (IFPA). Whereas ordinary aromatherapy is primarily used as a relaxation or de-stressing technique, clinical aromatherapy is used to treat a range of traditional physical problems such as muscle aches & pains but also a wide variety of psychological and emotional problems.
It has a holistic approach to the individual patient using a combination of essential oils coupled with unique and effective massage techniques. In each treatment, essential oils are chosen and blended. Each essential oil has its own healing properties based on the chemical constituent of the plants they are extracted from.
The treatment is tailored to your requirements and may include a combination of the following:
- Deep and soft tissue massage
- Breathing techniques
- Trigger points
- Abdominal massage
- Acupressure techniques
- Guidance on aftercare and self massage techniques
